Ecole des Sables 2024-2025
In 2024 Alexandra joined the third module “Where are the works of black creators?” of the Afrique Diaspora Training at Ecole des Sables. In 2025 she returned for her second year during the module "L'imaginaire Noire". Afrique Diaspora is a 10-week training of three years created by Alesandra Seutin and Wesley Ruzibiza, for young professional dancers and creators from the continent and its diaspora. The international centre for traditional and contemporary African dance invited different teachers/creators to share their repertoire, worlds and working methods with the group. Alexandra was challenged to retrace her path of becoming a dance artists whilst deepening connections with the dance field on the continent. It was also a chance to focus on her physical training, to question and specify her own movement language and start new creation processes.
"Every movement is like a whole world, but how do we move from one into another world? Maybe a movement is like a day, that changes through the night. Transitioning like the sun, into the next day, the next movement, the next world.
Being an artists brought us here. Together as trees we create a forest, as our roots are holding hands wherever we are.
Until our sun’s rays shine on each other again."
This journey was supported by Het Cultuurfonds and Werktuig PPO.
